Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Kosovo on Independence Day
On 17 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius sent a letter of congratulations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo Enver Hoxhaj on the occasion of the celebration of the Independence Day of Kosovo. Linkevičius welcomed Kosovo’s efforts and progress towards building a multi-ethnic and prosperous democracy, voiced his support for Kosovo’s European perspective and integration into the international community, and attached importance to further strengthening bilateral relations.
“I believe that a consistent implementation of all the necessary reforms and strong political will shall further contribute to peace and stability in the Western Balkans region,” reads the letter, in which Linkevičius also invites the Minister Hoxhaj to visit Lithuania.
Kosovo declared its Independence on 17 February 2008. Lithuania and Kosovo established their bilateral relations on 1 September 2008.
