LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATES HIS NEW COUNTERPART IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
On 13 July, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis congratulated the newly appointed First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affaires of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg.
Speaking on the phone, Minister A.Ažubalis wished his counterpart success in the new position and expressed trust that Lithuania and the Czech Republic would continue close cooperation on the issues that are important for both countries and the region.The Ministers discussed cooperation within the Community of Democracies, which is currently chaired by Lithuania.
Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs invited Karel Schwarzenberg to visit Vilnius.
On 13 July, President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus officially appointed the new Czech Government, led by Petr Nečas.
K.Schwarzenberg was born in Prague in 1937. In 1948, his family was forced to leave for Austria. K.Schwarzenberg returned to the homeland in 1989. He has been member of the Czech Parliament since 2004. K.Schwarzenberg already served as the Minister of Foreign Affaires of the Czech Republic in 2007-2009.
