Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates his Montenegrin counterpart on Independence Day
On 21 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Srđan Darmanović and all the people of Montenegro on the Independence Day.
Linkevičius noted that during 11 years of its independence, Montenegro had made great progress in strengthening its statehood, improving citizens’ wellbeing and had set an example to other countries in the region. The fact that Montenegro will soon join NATO shows that the country’s efforts and achievements are appreciated and recognized. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also stressed that Lithuania had consistently supported the process of integration of Montenegro into the EU, while the country’s full alignment with the EU’s foreign and security policy positions showed its clear commitment to the principles of the EU.
Lithuania and Montenegro established their diplomatic relations on 18 July 2006.
