Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Greece on Independence Day

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Kotzias and wished the Greek people well-being on the country’s Independence Day.

“Lithuania and Greece have enjoyed a long and sincere friendship, which is based on a climate of mutual respect and shared values – this year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of our diplomatic relations. I believe that the strong partnership between our two countries within the European Union, NATO and other international organizations will help us to overcome global challenges and achieve our common goal, i.e. to ensure a peaceful, secure and prosperous future for our people,” reads the letter.

This year marks the 196th anniversary of Greek independence. Lithuania and Greece re-established their diplomatic relations on 7 January 1992.
