Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Chile on Independence Day

On 18 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Lithuanian Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Foreign Minister of Chile Heraldo Muñoz Valenzuela on the country’s Independence Day.
In his letter of congratulations, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister wrote that Chile was an important trading partner of Lithuania in Latin America. Linkevičius also called on Chile to finalize the negotiations on an economic cooperation agreement as soon as possible.
Lithuania established diplomatic relations with Chile in 1935, when the friendship agreement between Lithuania and Chile was signed. Lithuania and Chile re-established their diplomatic relations on 5 December 1991.
