Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Canada on its National Day
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs François-Philippe Champagne on Canada Day.
In his congratulations letters, L. Linkevičius welcomes the strong relationship between Lithuania and Canada. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister is also glad that the number of bilateral meetings has increased. In addition, L. Linkevičius highlighted the importance of solidarity and unity in light of the pandemic, as well as Canada’s contribution to ensuring security of the Baltic region and global efforts to protect human rights and freedom of the media.
L. Linkevičius believes that in the future Lithuania and Canada will continue their fruitful cooperation in supporting the reform process in Ukraine, countering disinformation, and strengthening transatlantic relations. In the letter, the Foreign Minister invited François-Philippe Champagne to pay an official visit to Lithuania.
Canada Day is observed on 1 July. The national holiday celebrates the anniversary of Confederation in 1867, when the British North America Act came into effect.
