Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Brazil on its Independence Day

On 7 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Brazilian Foreign Minister José Serra on the Independence Day of Brazil and invited his counterpart to visit Lithuania to hold bilateral political consultations.

“I welcome the growing cooperation between our two countries and I look forward to further strengthening our ties with Brazil, especially in the fields that bring the greatest benefits to our countries – research, education, culture and trade,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.

Brazil declared its independence on 7 September 1822. Lithuania established diplomatic relations with Brazil in 1931. The diplomatic relations were re-established on 5 November 1991.
