Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Albania on its Independence Day

On 28 November, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati and the people of Albania on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, and noted that Lithuania consistently supported Albania on the path to European integration.

“We welcome Albania’s determination and efforts to implement all necessary reforms that are important for the country’s modernization and allow Albania to take further steps towards EU membership,” reads the Lithuanian Foreign Minister’s congratulations letter.

Linkevičius also noted that Lithuania highly appreciated the full alignment of Albania on all EU foreign and security policy issues, which showed the country’s clear commitment to EU principles.

Albania declared its independence in 1912. Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and Albania on 27 April 1992.
