Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Afghanistan on Independence Day

On 19 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Salahuddin Rabbani on the country’s Independence Day.
In his letter of congratulations, Linkevičius expressed gladness at the bilateral cooperation in the fields of cyber-security, information and communication technologies, and organization of elections.
Lithuania and Afghanistan established diplomatic relations during the interwar period, when an agreement on friendly relations was signed in Kaunas on 9 December 1930. The countries re-established their diplomatic relations on 31 March 2005.
