LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATED HIS UKRAINIAN COUNTERPART ON ASSUMING OFFICE

On 9 October, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas had a telephone conversation with Petro Poroshenko and congratulated him on assuming office as Ukraine’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.

During the conversation, Minister V.Ušackas highlighted the importance of strategic partnership between Lithuania and Ukraine.


Minister P.Poroshenko thanked the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy, who was the first foreign minister to congratulate him.

According to the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, this symbolises resilient historical ties between Lithuania and Ukraine, and close bilateral relations today.

The Ministers also agreed to meet in the nearest future.

P.Poroshenko has appeared on Ukraine’s political scene many years ago, from 2007 he was head of the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine.
