LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER CONGRATULATED HIS SWEDISH COUNTERPART

On 6 October, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis had a telephone conversation with Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt and congratulated him on the re-appointment.

“It is always a pleasure to meet you on both sides of the Baltic Sea, also in Brussels,” Foreign Minister A.Ažubalis said during the conversation.

Head of Lithuania’s diplomacy wished his counterpart success and said that he was determined to pursue close cooperation between Lithuania and Sweden on the issues of the European Union agenda, the EU Eastern Partnership initiative, other European, bilateral and international issues.

Foreign Minister A.Ažubalis invited C.Bildt to pay a visit to Lithuania.

On 19 September, the center-right coalition of Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt won parliamentary elections in Sweden.

Swedish diplomat and politician C.Bildt was born in 1949. From 1986 to 1999, C.Bildt headed the liberal conservative party. Formerly Sweden’s Prime Minister from 1991 to 1994, C.Bildt has been Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2006.
