LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER BIDS FAREWELL TO THE OUTGOING BELGIAN AMBASSADOR
On 30 April, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis met with outgoing Ambassador of Belgium Serge Wauthier. The Minister thanked the Ambassador for his contribution to fostering close relations between Lithuania and Belgium, and among the regions of these countries.
Minister A.Ažubalis expressed trust that Belgium would successfully preside over the European Union in the second half of 2010, and would share its experience of the EU Presidency with Lithuania.
Lithuania will hold the EU Presidency in the second half of 2013.
The Minister stressed the importance of cooperation between high-ranking officials from the Baltic States and Benelux countries in discussing issues on the EU agenda and international policy. A meeting of foreign ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium was already held in Vilnius, in October 2009.
