Lithuania’s Foreign Minister bids farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of Greece

On 23 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius received the outgoing Ambassador of Greece to Lithuania Iraklis Asteriadis. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for his personal contribution to the development of friendly bilateral relations and stressed that Greece was an important partner for Lithuania in the European Union and NATO.

In the meeting, the diplomats discussed Greece’s economic situation. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister welcomed Greece’s efforts to make all the decisions that were necessary to achieve economic stability in the country. As regards migration issues, the Ambassador pointed out that Greece continued to face an unprecedented number of migrants. Although the number of migrants reduced, it remains very high. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister expressed his solidarity with Greece and stressed the need for a consistent effort of all partners to address the issues facing migrants – accommodation issues and other important issues.
