LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER BIDS FAREWELL TO THE AMBASSADOR OF INDIA
On 19 May, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas received outgoing Ambassador of India to Lithuania Chandra Mohan Bhandari, who resides in Warsaw.
The Minister and the ambassador discussed the bilateral relations that are becoming stronger and stronger. It was noted that since the Lithuanian Embassy in Delhi began issuing visas, the possibilities for the citizens of India to travel to Lithuania became much better. This stimulates closer economic and cultural relations.
At the meeting, the ways to strengthen economic cooperation between Lithuania and India were also discussed. Minister V.Ušackas conveyed an invitation to the Minister of Transport of India to attend the first ASEM Transport Ministers’ Meeting that is organised on 19-20 October in Vilnius. A delegation of businessmen from India is expected to accompany the Minister.
Minister V.Ušackas congratulated India for completing the month-long marathon of national election on 16 May.
On 18-19 May, a meeting of experts from Lithuania and India took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, an agreement of the Governments of Lithuania and India regarding the Promotion and Protection of Investments was agreed upon and initialled.
