LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER APPOINTS THE VICE-MINISTERS

On 12 February, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis appointed the vice-ministers. Šarūnas Adomavičius, Evaldas Ignatavičius and Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė, who have held the positions of vice-ministers until now, are re-appointed, and their areas of responsibility remain the same.

Vice-Minister Š.Adomavičius is responsible for relations with Lithuanians living abroad, the shaping of consular policy and the improvement of consular services. The Vice-Minister will be in charge of shaping and implementing Lithuania’s policy in international organisations and other multilateral frameworks. He will supervise the issues of development of relations with the countries of South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.

Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius is in charge of strengthening Eastern Neighbourhood policy, development of bilateral and multilateral relations with Russia and other countries in the Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia. Lithuania’s policy for development cooperation and democracy promotion policy, public diplomacy, state border and migration issues, shaping and implementing of security policy, development of transatlantic, bilateral and multilateral cooperation with foreign countries and regions are also areas of responsibility of Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius.

Vice-Minister A.Skaisgirytė Liauškienė is responsible for the issues of economic diplomacy, Lithuania’s foreign trade policy, export and investments, country's integration into the world markets, economic security policy. The Vice-Minister will be in charge of shaping and implementing the European Union’s policy, relations with the EU institutions, and the development of bilateral and multilateral relations with the EU member states, as well as issues of strengthening relations with the closest neighbours.
