LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER AND THE HEAD OF THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION’S ENLARGEMENT DIRECTORATE GENERAL DISCUSS THE EU ENLARGEMENT ISSUES
On 15 January, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas met with Michael Leigh, head of the European Commission’s Enlargement Directorate General, who is visiting in Vilnius, and discussed with him important issues of the EU enlargement. “The commitments of the European Union for the countries that are seeking the EU membership should be fulfilled. Herewith, it is also necessary to help the EU neighbours in the East to prepare for it appropriately,” said head of the Lithuanian diplomacy.
During the meeting, the EU membership negotiations with Turkey and Croatia were also discussed, as well as the progress of the Western Balkan countries, seeking for the EU membership.
