Lithuania’s first Honorary Consulate opens in Paraguay
On 12 February, the Honorary Consulate of Lithuania was opened in Paraguay. The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius attended the official opening ceremony.
“Today, we are taking a new step in the bilateral relationship between Lithuania and Paraguay. We believe that the new Honorary Consulate will contribute to the development of our relationship in the fields of politics, economy, tourism, education, and other areas, ”said the Vice-Minister D. Skusevičius
The Honorary Consulate is headed by Walter Ismachowiez, a Paraguayan businessman whose family originally came from Lithuania.
The Lithuanian delegation paid its first visit to Paraguay on 11-13 February. Lithuanian representatives met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Paraguay. The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Paraguay held political consultations. Perspectives for bilateral cooperation, foreign policy priorities for the two countries, situations in the regions, and other topical issues were discussed. In addition, representatives of both Foreign Ministries signed an agreement on regular political consultations.
