LITHUANIA’S EXPERIENCE IN THE EUROPEAN UNION PRESENTED IN KISHINEV

Supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania’s Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion Programme, the Moldovan and Lithuanian fund ‘The Centre for European Integration Studies’ in 2008, in Kishinev, started a set of lectures on the successful Lithuania’s experience in the European Union, given by the Lithuanian experts and politicians.

On 24 April, Lithuanian Minister of Agriculture Kazimiera Prunskienė gave the first lecture in this set, called ‘The Lithuanian Agriculture Reform: experience, lessons, impact of the EU membership’.

This year the Centre for European Integration Studies plans to organize at least twenty more lectures in Moldova and Ukraine. Lectures on Lithuania’s experience in the European Union will be given by the Lithuanian scientists, experts and politicians.

 ‘The Centre for European Integration Studies’ is the joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University. In 2006, the centre opened two branches in Lvov and in Donetsk, Ukraine, and a fund in Kishinev. The branches of ‘The Centre for European Integration Studies’ in those countries are seeking to transmit the experience of Lithuania’s integration into the European Union and to develop the cooperation among the Lithuanian society and the academic communities, the non-governmental organisations and youth of those countries.
