LITHUANIA’S EARLY START TO PREPARE FOR THE EU PRESIDENCY IS EVALUATED POSITIVELY

During the workshop on the preparation for Lithuania’s EU Presidency for representatives of coordinators network on 1 July in Vilnius, head of Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union Marek Mora positively evaluated Lithuania’s extremely early start of the preparation process for the EU Presidency, as compared to other countries.

M.Mora also presented to the participants of the event various aspects of the preparation for the EU Presidency: drafting and implementing the programme of the Presidency, preparation to chair the sessions of the Council of the European Union, cooperation with EU institutions, strengthening administration capacities, ensuring logistics and communication.

He acquainted the participants of the event with the functions of Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union during the Presidency.

Representatives from the Ministries, Office of the Seimas, Office of the Prime Minister and Office of the President constitute the preparation for Lithuania’s EU Presidency coordinators’ network.

During the preparation period for the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union Affaires, M.Mora was Deputy Vice Prime Minister for European Affaires.

 Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half-year in 2013.
