LITHUANIA’S CHAIRMANSHIP PRIORITIES FOR 2006 PRESENTED TO THE BALTIC COUNCIL

On 25 November a delegation from Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by the Ministry Undersecretary Dalius Čekuolis took part in the 11th Baltic Council and 24th Session of the Baltic Assembly in Tallinn.

In 2006 Lithuania will take over the chairmanship of the Baltic States cooperation institutions therefore in the Baltic Council Dalius Čekuolis presented Lithuania’s priorities in the most important spheres of cooperation: energy, infrastructure development, defence, environment and internal affairs.

In his report the Ministry Undersecretary underlined the importance of practical cooperation of the Baltic Council of Ministers and the Baltic Assembly.

Lithuanian delegation also participated in the Baltic Cooperation Council meeting, where the results of the Baltic States cooperation under Estonian chairmanship and plans for the next year were discussed.
