Lithuania's Ambassador to Russia officially informed about the expulsion of employees of the Lithuanian Embassy
On 29 March, the Ambassador of Lithuania in Moscow Eitvydas Bajarūnas was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia and handed in a diplomatic note, informing him of the expulsion from Russia of four employees of the Lithuanian representation — 2 diplomats and 2 civil servants.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania condemns this step taken by Moscow and reminds that Lithuania has expelled representatives of Russia's special services, who had worked under the diplomatic cover at the Russian Embassy in Vilnius and not the diplomats who had worked there.
The Foreign Ministry once again calls on Russia to abandon the practice of sending representatives of Russia's special services to serve under the diplomatic cover at diplomatic representations.
Lithuania condemns Russia's military invasion of the sovereign state of Ukraine and notes that Russia’s special services are involved in planning and conducting the military offensive against Ukraine, thus posing a threat not only to the security of Ukraine but also to that of Lithuania.
