Lithuania’s Ambassador presents his letters of credence to the President of Mexico

On 24 October, the Ambassador of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas presented his letters of credence to the President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto.

During the visit, Kriščiūnas will also meet with the Mexican Foreign Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massie and the Honorary Consul of Lithuania in Mexico Ronén Waisser Landau.

As Lithuania’s representative in Mexico, the Ambassador will aim to promote bilateral political relations, will intensify economic cooperation searching for mutually beneficial areas, will promote cultural tie, student exchanges and tourism. Kriščiūnas will also seek to establish closer ties between the national parliaments of the two countries. The Ambassador Kriščiūnas sent his congratulations letter to the Mexico-Lithuania Parliamentary Friendship Group that was established in 2013 and newly inaugurated on 25 October after the parliamentary elections in Mexico.

This autumn marks the 25th anniversary since Mexico de jure recognized the re-established independent state of Lithuania on 5 September 1991 and the two countries established diplomatic relations on 5 November of the same year. Kriščiūnas is the sixth Ambassador of Lithuania to the United Mexican States after the country regained its independence.
