LITHUANIA‘S AMBASSADOR PRESENTS HIS CREDENTIALS TO QUEEN ELIZABETH II
On 23 June Lithuania‘s ambassador Oskaras Jusys presented his credentials to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom.
The Ambassador expressed satisfaction about the similar positions of Lithuania and the United Kingdom on many issues of foreign policy and highlighted his trust that Vilnius and London would continue the development of close cooperation in the European Union and NATO.
“The community of our thoughts and positions allows us to develop a permanent dialogue on strategic issues of the European Union, transatlantic agenda and other international matters. We will strive to look for new prospects of cooperation between business and academic community, we will cherish relations with the Lithuanians in the United Kingdom”, Ambassador O.Jusys said.
Sincere memories of the visit of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, to Lithuania in October 2006 were also shared during the Ambassador‘s audience with the Queen. Ambassador O.Jusys noted that the Royal visit has always been considered as an important sign of our country‘s acknowledgement and appreciation of our efforts in creating the strong and free democratic state with an open civil society.
Since the re-establishment of diplomatic relations in 1991, Lithuania and the United Kingdom have cherished their partnership based on values not only in the political but also in the economic and cultural fields. Both countries share a similar attitude towards the activities of the European Union and NATO as well as the future of these organizations.
