LITHUANIA‘S AMBASSADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF SINGAPORE

On 26 March, Lithuania‘s Ambassador Sigutė Jakštonytė presented credentials to President of Singapore Sellapan Ramanathan.

The Ambassador drew the President‘s attention to Lithuania‘s willingness to deepen political and economic cooperation with Southeast Asian countries and expressed hope that bilateral relations between Lithuania and Singapore as well as cooperation in multilateral formats would become more intensive.

The President of Singapore stressed the importance of bilateral economic cooperation and inquired about the possibilities to strengthen business relations with Lithuania.

Lithuania’s Ambassador noted that economic diplomacy was one of Lithuania’s foreign policy priorities and assured that she would pay special attention to the development of business contacts.

The Ambassador also presented other priorities of Lithuania’s foreign policy, activities in the European Union and European-Asian partnership projects. The Lithuanian diplomat conveyed an invitation for the transport minister of Singapore to attend the meeting of ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) transport ministers on 19-20 October in Vilnius.

Lithuania and Singapore established diplomatic relations on 10 October 1993.
