LITHUANIA‘S AMBASSADOR PRESENTED HIS CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA
On 27 February, Lithuania‘s Ambassador Antanas Vinkus presented his credentials to President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev. During the conversation, Ambassador A.Vinkus reiterated that President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus had invited the President of Russia to pay a visit to Lithuania and to participate in the events of the Day of the State (Coronation of King Mindaugas) and the Millennium of Lithuania.
Ambassador A.Vinkus stressed the importance of cultural and economic cooperation. The President of Russia noted that the relations between Lithuania and Russia needed a new energetic impetus, he also expressed trust that the relations would develop constructively in the future.
Having observed that Lithuania and Russia were developing an intensive bilateral cooperation in the field of culture, Lithuania’s Ambassador suggested to enrich the bilateral relations by launching a new project with the participation of the most famous solo artists from Lithuanian opera and musicians.
Ambassador A.Vinkus expressed satisfaction that Lithuanian theatre performances are always welcome in Russia, director Rimas Tuminas is a head of one of the oldest Russia’s academic theatres and the most famous Lithuanian singers hold successful concerts in Moscow.
A.Vinkus is the fifth Lithuanian ambassador to Russia. Prior to this appointment he was Lithuania’s Ambassador to Latvia and before that - to Estonia.
