LITHUANIA‘S AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF INDONESIA
On 18 June in Jakarta, Lithuania‘s ambassador Sigutė Jakštonytė presented her credentials to President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
During the conversation with the Ambassador, the President inquired about the possibilities of bilateral economic cooperation with Lithuania. Ambassador S.Jakštonytė who is residing in Vilnius noted that economic diplomacy was one of Lithuania‘s foreign policy priorities and highlighted Lithuania‘s objectives to deepen political and economic cooperation with South-East Asian countries.
The Ambassador expressed trust that bilateral Lithuanian and Indonesian relations as well as cooperation in multilateral formats would strengthen in the future. Prospects to develop cooperation on the issues of culture and academic exchanges were also discussed with the President.
Ambassador S.Jakštonytė presented Lithuania‘s activities in the European Union and projects of European-Asian partnership, as well as she conveyed the invitation for the Indonesian minister of Transport to attend the first ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Transport Ministers‘ Meeting on 19-20 October in Vilnius.
Lithuania and Indonesia established diplomatic relations in 1993.
