LITHUANIA‘S AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE PRESIDENT OF HUNGARY

On 19 June in Budapest, Lithuania‘s ambassador Renatas Juška presented his credentials to President of Hungary László Sólyom. Ambassador R.Juška expressed satisfaction about the successful bilateral relations and noted his objective to achieve closer and more active political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.

Lithuania‘s ambassador highlighted the importance of close Lithuanian-Hungarian partnership and cooperation in the institutions of the European Union and NATO. He also expressed hope that close bilateral cooperation would stimulate new joint initiatives during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the Baltic Sea States and the Hungarian Presidency of the Visegrad Group (also known as the "Visegrad Four").

President of Hungary L.Sólyom stressed the importance of closer cooperation between Baltic and Visegrad countries, especially in the field of transport infrastructure development.

Ambassador R.Juška invited President L.Sólyom to patronize a concert of young pianists that would be held in 2010 in Hungary’s city of Pécs. The idea of the concert belongs to the founder of SOS Talents Foundation, pianist and composer Michel Sogny who is a Hungarian citizen and Lithuania‘s honorary consul in Switzerland. Young gifted artists from Belarus, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania and other countries will take part in the concert.

Lithuania and Hungary established diplomatic relations in 1991.

Ambassador R.Juška is the fourth Lithuania‘s Ambassador to Hungary.
