LITHUANIA‘S AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE CROWN PRINCE OF THAILAND

On 5 August in Bangkok, Lithuania‘s Ambassador to Thailand Sigutė Jakštonytė presented her credentials to Crown Prince of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn who received the Lithuanian diplomat in the name of King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej. Ambassador S.Jakštonytė resides in Vilnius.

During the meeting with the Ambassador, Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn shared his pleasant memories of a brief visit to Lithuania in July 2008.

In Bangkok, Ambassador S.Jakštonytė met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Kasit Piromya and discussed with him the bilateral issues, matters related to the signing of international agreements, economic situation and the impact of financial crisis on the countries.

Ambassador S.Jakštonytė highlighted Lithuania‘s goals to deepen political and economic cooperation with South-East Asian states and expressed trust that Lithuania and Thailand would only strengthen their bilateral relations and co-operation in multilateral structures in the future.

Ambassador presented the priorities of Lithuania‘s foreign policy, the country’s activities in the European Union and Europe-Asia partnership projects. The Lithuanian diplomat conveyed an invitation for the Transport Minister of Thailand to attend the first ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Transport Ministers‘ Meeting on 19-20 October 2009 in Vilnius.

Lithuania and Thailand established diplomatic relations on 9 April 1993.
