LITHUANIA’S AMBASSADOR PRESENTED CREDENTIALS TO THE CHAIRMAN OF THE PRESIDENCY OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
On 26 July in Sarajevo, Lithuania’s Ambassador Renatas Juška presented his credentials to Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Haris Silajdžić.
During a conversation that followed the solemn ceremony, the Ambassador affirmed consistent Lithuania’s support to the aspirations of Bosnia and Herzegovina to integration into the EU and NATO.
Lithuania’s representative noted that when marking the twentieth anniversary of the re-establishment of the country’s Independence this year, Lithuania was following the slogan ‘Believe in Freedom’. Therefore, the state of Lithuania and its diplomacy will make every effort to ensure that the European Union remains a community of countries, based on values and democracy, openness and diversity of opinion.
Ambassador R.Juška said that Lithuania’s experience in implementing economic and institutional reforms could be very useful for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and informed the Chairman about the readiness of Lithuanian institutions to actively participate in joint projects for the country’s integration into the EU.
The Ambassador also highlighted that Lithuania was the sixth largest investor in Bosnia and Herzegovina and that Lithuanian business was very interested to have at an early date a bilateral agreement for the avoidance of double taxation. Lithuanian providers of capital invested 50.4 million litas in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first quarter of the year.
R.Juška is the second Lithuanian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. He resides in Budapest.
