Lithuania's Ambassador Neilas Tankevičius presented his letters of credence to King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands
In a solemn ceremony at the Royal Palace on 14 September, Neilas Tankevičius officially began his duties as the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Netherlands.
After the ceremony, the King and the Ambassador discussed the situation in Ukraine, challenges in the near-term, security issues, relevant decisions on the agenda of the European Union, and other issues.
The Ambassador Tankevičius emphasized that Lithuania highly valued the Netherlands as a NATO ally, which contributed practically to the increasing the Alliance's security in Eastern Europe.
“We are grateful to the Netherlands for solidarity and for offering practical assistance when needed,” Tankevičius said.
The Netherlands is one of Lithuania’s main economic partners. The country is the fourth-largest investor in Lithuania and one of the most important trading partners.
Tankevičius noted that the dialogue with the Netherlands in the field of energy and innovation was important for Lithuania.
