Lithuania's Ambassador Degutis presented his letters of credence to the Governor-General of New Zealand Kiro
On 9 March, the Ambassador of Lithuania Darius Degutis remotely presented his letters of credence to the Governor-General of New Zealand Cindy Kiro.
The Ambassador said that bilateral relations between Lithuania and New Zealand were particularly good, and Lithuania would seek to sign a double tax agreement with this country. In addition, Degutis expressed Lithuania’s support for the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and New Zealand.
The Ambassador welcomed the effective implementation by Lithuania of its strategic commitment to strengthen ties with the Indo-Pacific region — the opening of Lithuania's Embassies in Australia and South Korea, as well as plans to establish an Embassy in Singapore.
When speaking about Russian military aggression against Ukraine, Degutis stressed that Russian aggression was the beginning of a war in Europe, in the neighborhood of Lithuania. According to the Ambassador, Lithuania supports Ukraine’s sovereignty and calls on all countries in the world to counter Putin's aggression. “A united response is needed to ensure that the conflict does not result in a global disaster,” the Ambassador said.
