Lithuanian women diplomats meet with the High Representative and Vice-President of the European Commission Kallas
On 7 September, Lithuanian women diplomats met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas. She shared her personal and professional experiences and spoke about the role of women in today’s diplomacy, leadership, and career challenges.
Speaking on behalf of the Women Diplomats' Network, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Lina Rukštelienė emphasized that a strong and modern diplomatic service is inseparable from women’s leadership.
“We have many talented and professional women in the Lithuanian diplomatic service who shape foreign policy and represent Lithuania. By ensuring equal opportunities for women to pursue careers and leadership positions, we are strengthening the entire diplomatic service of our country. Women must be present wherever decisions are made,” said the Vice-Minister.
During the meeting with Lithuanian female diplomats, the discussion focused on women’s experiences in the diplomatic service, balancing professional and personal lives, career opportunities, and ways to further strengthen women’s representation and leadership in foreign policy.
Kallas is visiting Lithuania on 7–8 September at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys.
