LITHUANIAN-WALLOON COOPERATION PROGRAMME FOR 2008-2010 WAS ENDORSED IN BRUSSELS

On 10 December, the first meeting of the Standing joint Lithuanian-Belgian Walloon Commission was held in Brussels. Director of the European Union Department of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vidmantas Purlys and Deputy Director of the General Secretariat of International Relations of the Belgian French-speaking community as well as of the General Directorate of the Walloon region Charles-Etiene Laggasse, who co-chaired the Commission, signed the first programme for 2008-2010 to implement cooperation agreement between the Government of Lithuania and the French-speaking community in Belgium as well as the Walloon region.

Lithuania’s Ambassador to Belgium Nijolė Žambaitė stressed that this agreement would help to strengthen bilateral relations as well as it would enhance mutual understanding between the two nations.

Concrete cooperation projects in the fields of transport, logistics, education, establishment of science centres, agriculture and culture are foreseen in the programme.
