LITHUANIAN-UK COOPERATION WAS DISCUSSED IN LONDON
During political consultations on 9 September in London, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Eitvydas Bajarūnas and Political Director of United Kingdom's Foreign & Commonwealth Office Geoffrey Adams discussed the prospects of bilateral and regional cooperation, European Union and security policy issues, Lithuania’s chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 2011.
E.Bajarūnas expressed satisfaction about the relations between Lithuania and the United Kingdom, that gained dynamics..
During the consultations, the parties exchanged their opinions concerning the possible cooperation projects in the fields of economy and energy, and in the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood countries.
E.Bajarūnas and G.Adams discussed Lithuania‘s OSCE chairmanship priorities in 2011, ways to resolve protracted conflicts, expectations for the OSCE summit that will be held on 1-2 December in Astana.
Opportunities for a more intensive cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Baltic Sea region countries were also discussed.
E.Bajarūnas also met with Brian Fall, UK Special Representative for South Caucasus, and other high officials of the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office who deal with the South Caucasus and Afghanistan issues, international security, international organizations, OSCE and the Council of Europe.
On 10 September, political director E.Bajarūnas is meeting with foreign policy analysts from the European Council on Foreign Relations and Chatham House.
Coordinator of Lithuania's OSCE Chairmanship, Ambassador Rytis Paulauskas and Ambassador-at-Large Giedrius Čekuolis are also participating in the meetings.
