It was noticed that despite different historical and geographic background both countries have similar views on many issues. The countries agreed about the importance and positive results of NATO operation in Afghanistan.
Turkish representatives appreciated increasing Lithuania’s role in the region and its activity and determination to support operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Lithuanian representatives thanked Turkey for help and support in ensuring the security of the Baltic States’ air space. It is planned that Turkey’s fighter planes will be deployed in Šiauliai in spring 2006.
