LITHUANIAN-TURKISH POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS WERE HELD IN ANKARA

On 7 April in Ankara, Political Director of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eitvydas Bajarūnas participated in the political consultations between Lithuania and Turkey, during which he and Deputy Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of the Foreign Affairs Ünal Çeviköz discussed Turkey’s EU membership aspirations, as well as plans and priorities of Lithuania’s OSCE Chairmanship in 2011.

The participants of the consultations also exchanged opinions on the situation in the Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus, Central Asia, Western Balkans, the Middle East and Iran.

“Lithuania values Turkey’s role in building stability and security in the neighbouring regions and in diversifying Europe’s energy sources,” Political Director E.Bajarūnas stressed during the meeting.

During the visit in Turkey, the Political Director of Lithuania’s MFA also met with charge d'affaires at the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey Tibor Varadi, officials from Turkey’s Secretariat General for EU Affairs, parliamentary delegation to the OSCE of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
