LITHUANIAN-TURKISH COOPERATION ISSUES DISCUSSED IN ANKARA

During political consultations on 28 April in Ankara, the officials of the Lithuanian and Turkish Foreign Ministries discussed the issues of bilateral political, economic and cultural cooperation. State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Evaldas Ignatavičius was in the lead of the Lithuanian Delegation, and Deputy Undersecretary of the Turkish MFA Baki Ilkin headed his country’s officials. Major attention at the meeting was given to the ratification of Lithuania’s accession to the NATO protocols in the Parliament of the Republic of Turkey, and issues related to the enlargement of the European Union. The officials also discussed the situation in the region, the future visits, the ratification issues of the cooperation treaties signed by Lithuania and Turkey, and the intergovernmental exchange programme in the fields of culture, education, university education, youth and sport.
