LITHUANIAN-SWEDISH COOPERATION WAS DISCUSSED IN VILNIUS
On 9 May in Vilnius Lithuanian Foreign Ministry State Secretary Algimantas Rimkūnas with Swedish Foreign Ministry State Secretary Hans Dahlgren discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, regional cooperation and international politics.
The diplomats marked the successful development of Lithuanian-Swedish ties, fast growth of mutual trade, and the fact that Swedish business investments are among the biggest direct foreign investments in Lithuania.
Mr Rimkūnas stressed that Lithuania devotes considerable effort to overcome the isolation of the energy system, therefore successful implementation of the joint Lithuanian-Swedish energy project “SwindLit” would contribute greatly to effective solution of this problem.
State secretaries of Lithuanian and Swedish Foreign Ministries also addressed the creation of the European Union’s common energy policy and implementation of the neighbourhood policy, enlargement of the Euro zone, and shared experience of participation in the Afghanistan Provincial Reconstruction Teams.
