LITHUANIAN SAILORS HAVE BEEN LIBERATED
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania informs that the sailors who had been kidnapped in Nigeria from the Lithuanian-flagged ship Saturnas were liberated today. They all are alive and healthy. Currently, the members of the crew are being inquired by Nigerian officials. The sailors will return to their homes after the medical examination, in the nearest future.
Five sailors from the ship, which is owned by the Limarko Shipping Company, were kidnapped on 3 August. The assault took place on the Escravos River Road off the coast of Nigeria.
Note to the media: today, on 14 August, at 2 pm two news conferences will take place simultaneously in Vilnius and Klaipėda. In Vilnius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Vygaudas Ušackas will answer the questions, in Klaipėda, Director General of the Limarko Shipping Company Vytautas Lygnugaris will talk to the journalists.
