On 21 July, a Lithuanian delegation headed by MFA Undersecretary Šarūnas Adomavičius for the first time participated at the EU and Mediterranean Sea States‘ fourth trade conference EUROMED in Istambul.
The Conference was important to Lithuania, which has recently joined the European Union (EU). EUROMED embraces political, economy and trade, cultural and other cooperation issues. In the field of trade EUROMED cooperation goal is to promote trade relations in the forum, diminish and abolish trade obstacles in order to create EUROMED free trade space by 2010.
It is expected that the customs tariff discounts and other measures discussed at the Conference will help Lithuanian companies find niches for their goods and services in the Mediterranean.
