LITHUANIAN PRIME MINISTER INTRODUCED THE NEW MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF LITHUANIA
On 19 July at the Foreign Ministry Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas introduced the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekūnas.
“I am glad that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be headed by a well-known person, Ambassador, Signatory to the Act of Restoration of the Independent State of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekūnas. Foreign Ministry is in safe hands,“ the Prime Minister said.
Underlining the effective activities of the Foreign Ministry Minister Vaitiekūnas said: “Time will tell whether any changes are necessary. I see active and hard-working team, so listening to its words and thoughts, I think, we can meet new challenges.”
The Prime Minister Kirkilas thanked Antanas Valionis, who headed Lithuanian Diplomacy in 2000-2006, for valuable work in the time important for our state. The Prime Minister underlined that former Foreign Minister and his team solved successfully complex issues of integration into the European Union and NATO, Kaliningrad transit, Eastern neighbourhood of the EU and other.
Foreign Minister Vaitiekūnas awarded Antanas Valionis a Medal for Merits in the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Lithuania.
