LITHUANIAN-POLISH STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP PROVIDES MORE PRACTICAL EXAMPLES
On 13 June Acting Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis met with the Speaker of Polish Sejm Marek Jurek and discussed common infrastructure and energy projects, states’ cooperation in the European Union and NATO institutions.
The participants of the meeting welcomed the agreement between Polish oil company “PKN Orlen” and Lithuanian Government on purchase of majority stake of “Mazeikiu Nafta”. This contract made the Poles the biggest investor to Lithuania.
Marek Jurek noticed that lately strategic partnership between the countries had provided more practical examples.
Minister Valionis said that the implementation of common infrastructure and energy projects still requires considerable efforts.
The Speaker of Polish Sejm and Lithuanian Foreign Minister admitted that the positions of both states in the Euro-Atlantic institutions usually are the same. The officials also discussed situation in Ukraine and the South Caucasus.
