Lithuanian-Omani political consultation held in Muscat
The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas, who is leading an official and business delegation, began his visit to Oman on 9 November. During the annual political consultation, Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi discussed important issues relating to bilateral cooperation over recent years.
The officials discussed further development of economic relations, energy security, cooperation within international organizations and migration. They also exchanged opinions on developments in the Middle East, relations with Russia and the situation in Ukraine.
During the visit, Germanas and the accompanying delegation will also meet with the Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Higher Education, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, and the Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Since the visit of the Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičiaus in February, recent months have seen an intensification of business relations. The Omani institutions and companies began to take part in international exhibitions organized by Lithuania, key economic agreements were initialled and a number of important visits were organised.
Lithuania and Oman established their diplomatic relations on 22 September 1992.
