LITHUANIAN MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS HOPES FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF POLITICAL AGREEMENT IN UKRAINE

Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the political agreement reached by Ukrainian political leaders on 27 May concerning the organisation of the early election in autumn 2007 will be successfully implemented and political processes in Ukraine will continue in the spirit of political compromise on the basis of common European values.

Lithuania urges Ukrainian leaders to ensure that the preparations for the upcoming early elections would not slow down the reforms that are underway in the country, because implementation of the reforms remains the prerequisite for strengthening EU-Ukrainian relations
