LITHUANIAN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS TAKES PART IN THE INFORMAL NATO FOREIGN MINISTERS MEETING

On 27-28 April during the Informal NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Sofia, Bulgaria Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis will discuss issues important for the Alliance: cooperation with partner states, NATO transformation and development prospects.

This meeting is an important stage of preparations for the NATO Summit in Riga this November.

Lithuania has repeatedly confirmed support for the development of cooperation with partner states, reforms of NATO forces and structures, NATO “open doors” policy.

Minister Valionis is also to express Lithuania’s position on further organisation of NATO mission in Afghanistan, and offer to strengthen coordination of civic activities of NATO Provincial Reconstruction Teams in this country. Currently Lithuania heads a Provincial Reconstruction Teams in Ghor province of Afghanistan.
