LITHUANIAN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS RECEIVED AMBASSADORS OF THE UNITED KINGDOM AND GREECE, WHO ARE FINISHING THEIR TENURE

On April 23, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas received the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Lithuania Colin Roberts and Greek Ambassador to Lithuania George Christofis, who are finishing their tenure. The Minister thanked the Ambassadors for their solid contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Lithuania and the United Kingdom, and between Lithuania and Greece, and discussed further cooperation perspectives between these countries.

During the meeting with the UK Ambassador, opinions about the relations between the European Union and Russia were also exchanged, and the issues of Kosovo and international security were discussed.

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs G.Christofis and P.Vaitiekūnas conferred the Foreign Ministry award – ‘The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium’ to Ambassador C.Roberts for his merits to the development of bilateral political, economic and cultural relations between Lithuania and the United Kingdom.

During the meeting with the Greek Ambassador, it was indicated that in the recent years the political dialogue between Lithuania and Greece was intensifying, the countries cooperated actively within the European Union and other multilateral formats. P.Vaitiekūnas and G.Christofis exchanged opinions on the possibilities of strengthening economic relations.

Ambassador G.Christofis is the first Greek Ambassador residing in Lithuania.
