LITHUANIAN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS HAS BEGUN MEETINGS IN GEORGIA
On 9 August, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas is on a visit in Georgia, where he seeks to survey the current situation in order to inform the European Union partners about it.
Minister P.Vaitiekūnas has already met the ambassadors of European Union in Georgia and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of George Eka Tkeshelashvili in Tbilisi.
The current situation has been discussed in the meetings. It was stated that the military conflict in South Ossetia is a direct Russian aggression against Georgia.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia E.Tkeshelashvili has expressed gratitude to Lithuania for every kind of support. She pointed that Georgia also feels support of other countries of European Union, but there is a need of more active involvement of EU and other international structures.
It is being planned that today Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs P.Vaitiekūnas together with the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili will go to the city of Gori and its area.
The visit of the Minister is taking place by order of President of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus.
