LITHUANIAN MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS CONGRATULATED THE NEWLY APPOINTED MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF POLAND

Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas congratulated the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Radosław Sikorski and expressed belief that the strategic partnership between Lithuania and Poland would be further successfully developed.

P.Vaitiekūnas invited his Polish counterpart to visit Lithuania in the nearest future.

In October R.Sikorski was elected to parliament of the Republic of Poland as a candidate of the Civic Platform. From 2005 to 2007 he was the Minister of National Defence of Poland, and from 2002 to 2005 he was a resident fellow of such non-governmental organization as the American Enterprise Institute and executive director of the New Atlantic Initiative in the USA. From 1998 to 2001 R.Sikorski served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. He has a Masters degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from University of Oxford.
