LITHUANIAN, LATVIAN AND ESTONIAN DIPLOMATS DISCUSSED JOINT ENERGY AND TRANSPORT PROJECTS

On 4 April in Riga, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Deividas Matulionis met with State Secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Norman Penke and Estonian Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General Matti Maasikas.

The cooperation among the Baltic States, while implementing joint projects in the area of transport and energy and also seeking to evaluate the damage committed by totalitarian regimes, was discussed during the meeting.

At the meeting, the State Secretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Baltic States dedicated major attention to the preparation of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for the reform of the European Union institutions and shared their experience of the optimization of the activity of national diplomatic services.

Diplomats exchanged opinions on the reform of the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and the upcoming Summit of this organisation in Riga in June, as well as the Baltic Sea strategy. During the meeting, security policy and consular issues were also discussed.
