Lithuanian laser capabilities presented to Airbus DS Optronics
On 9 November, a delegation representing Lithuania’s Laser and Engineering Technologies cluster (LITEK), Lithuanian Laser Association and Lithuanian laser companies visited the Headquarters of Airbus DS Optronics (Pty) Ltd. in Irene, South Africa. During the meeting, the structure of Lithuanian laser community, capabilities and products of the represented companies – Eksma, Optolita (EKSMA Optics), Ekspla, ELAS, Lidaris, and Quantum Light Instruments – were presented and prospects for further cooperation were discussed.
Airbus DS Optronics (Pty) Ltd., became a joint venture between Airbus Defense and Space and Denel (South Africa’s state-owned aerospace and defence technology conglomerate) in 2012. Airbus DS Optronics (Pty) Ltd. develops, designs and produces state-of-the-art optronic devices for military, security and civilian applications.
Representatives of Lithuanian laser industry are visiting South Africa on 8-11 November. The visit was initiated and organised by the Embassy of Lithuania to South Africa and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. During the visit, members of the Lithuanian delegation will hold meetings with representatives of the South African Department of Science and Technology (DST), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), as well as public and private business enterprises.
